Sam Brown is a Principal in CRA’s European Competition Practice. He is an empirical economist advising clients on all aspects of competition and antitrust economics with an emphasis on merger control in the UK.

Sam has more than 11 years of consulting experience in competition cases before the European Commission and national competition authorities across the world. This includes numerous high-profile mergers such as UnitedHealth Group/EMIS, Stryker/Cerus, NECSWS/Capita SSS, TVS/3G, Sainsbury’s/Asda, Roche/Spark, Mars Petcare and Ladbrokes/Coral in the UK; Cisco/Splunk, Ali Group/Welbilt, Natura/Avon, TDR Capital/BCA Marketplace and Abbott/Alere before the European Commission; Linnaeus/Blackhall in Ireland; Delivery Hero/Woowa Brothers in South Korea and BP/Woolworths in Australia. His work has also covers damages litigation (including ALSTOM/National Grid); alleged anticompetitive agreements (including Horizon Sports Management/Rory McIlroy); abuse of dominance (primarily in the pharmaceutical and oil/gas sector); and market investigations (including the CMA’s investigation into energy).

Prior to joining CRA, Sam completed an MSc in Economics and a BSc in International Economics from the University of Essex where he was an ESRC scholar.
