Simon Chisholm

Vice President

Simon advises clients on M&A and competition investigations, abuse of dominance and litigation matters before antitrust regulators and courts. He has advised firms before the European Commission, the UK competition authority (the CMA) and UK courts, and other national competition authorities worldwide (in particular, in Australia and the US). Simon has also provided expert economic advice to competition agencies while in private practice.

Prior to joining CRA, Simon spent over six years at the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (and its predecessor the Office of Fair Trading) where, amongst other roles, he led the team of economists analyzing UK mergers as Head of Merger Economics.

Simon is recognized as a Global Thought Leader in competition economics by Who’s Who Legal and described by peers as ‘analytically and intellectually brilliant’, ‘leaves no stone unturned and is very sharp’, and ‘provides superb analysis in complex cases…is very strong strategically and technically’

Simon’s antitrust and mergers experience spans a broad range of sectors, including: tech and online platforms, manufacturing, pharma, healthcare and medical equipment, retail and local markets, transport (airlines, rail, bus), financial services and insurance, FMCG, oil & gas, sports, and data and privacy, as well as particular expertise with minority shareholdings and vertical mergers.

Simon currently teaches about merger assessment on KCL’s PGDip in Economics for Competition Law.
