Kris has deep experience leading high-profile forensic accounting and cyber investigations, helping companies and their counsel reaffirm their commitment to integrity by independently responding to allegations of fraud, abuse, misconduct, and non-compliance. These allegations have involved a broad range of matters, such as accounting irregularities, anti-money laundering, data breaches, False Claims Act violations, FCPA, Ponzi schemes, and trade secret thefts. Kris is regularly called upon to present his investigative findings to boards and management teams, and to government regulators such as the SEC, FDIC, Federal Reserve, and US Department of Health & Human Services’ Office of Inspector General (HHS OIG). He has testified numerous times on both liability and damages.
He has also been retained to serve as a court-appointed neutral in theft of trade secret matters; to provide forensic assistance to court-appointed receivers for failed financial institutions; to serve as an independent monitor for a gubernatorial recall effort; and in the health services space, to lead independent review organization (IRO) and compliance monitor assignments, as required under the terms of corporate integrity agreements and consent orders, and numerous voluntary self-disclosure engagements.
Kris is a member of various professional associations, including the AICPA, the Illinois CPA Society, and the National Association of Federal Equity Receivers. He is a frequent speaker and author on forensic matters, and he has guest lectured at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and at various Chicago law schools. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (licensed in Illinois), a Certified Fraud Examiner, a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist, and is Certified in Financial Forensics. Most recently, he was a partner and Midwest Market Leader for PwC's Forensic Services practice.
